Types of Membership

Full Membership & License Sample Certificate

full membership certificates and licenses1 may be issued to full members or former full members of federally or state government recognized and authorized public accounting bodies (of any country and/or state) who are, or at one time were, professionally qualified and authorized in law to perform public attest functions. Examples are Certified Public Accountants, Chartered Accountants, Commissaires aux Comptes, Dottore Commercialista or Revisore dei conti, and Wirtschaftsprüfer.

How to apply.

Fees.   Regular admission fee waived. No annual fee during the first year.

1 "License to practice under the IICPA's Code of Professional Conduct subject to the laws, rules and regulations of the governing jurisdiction"; eg, normally a CPA license to practice in the United States must be obtained from the respective state board of accountancy, in Canada a CA certificate from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in the province or territory.

Associate Membership

certificates may be issued to candidates who have passed all parts of the Uniform U.S. CPA exam or equivalent but not yet met the experience requirements, or the Internal Comprehensive IICPA Exam.

How to apply.

Fees.   Regular admission fee waived. No annual fee during the first year.

Honorary Membership

certificates may be issued to distinguished individuals of varying but surely amazing walks of life, granted solely for merits. Candidates would normally be nominated by third parties, one of whom should be an accounting professional; or, if self-nominated, candidates should provide two references one of whom should be from an accounting professional. Supporting documentation should include a detailed résumé with a list of achievements.

The IICPA is not yet active on the African continent and the countries of the former Soviet Union, and is not engaged in trade or business in the United States of America.

Membership certificates are awarded at the sole discretion of the issuer without any right of recourse by the applicant(s) or nominee(s) or member(s) whatsoever. Full members (other than associate, student or honorary members) are licensed to hold themselves out as members of the Institute in the conduct of professional services and may perform attest functions under the condition that they are also properly licensed under the laws, rules and regulations that are in force at the respective jurisdiction. The Institute shall not disclose the names and addresses of its members except by express instruction by the member.

CPE - Continuing Professional Education. The Institute educates, holds seminars and promotes but does not regulate continuing professional education at this time.

A private enterprise: International Institute of Certified Public Accountants (IICPA) is incorporated in the United States of America pursuant to Title 8 of the Delaware Code, is engaged in forward-looking dynamic accounting research and development, education and training to advance the liberal accounting and finance profession.
